Oh those mittens January 30, 2008

Ok, I just had to post this! I was randomly searching the internet and decided to see if YC had finally put up their new info for this year….and guess what???? THEY DID!!!
I am so excited!
For those of you that don’t know what YC is. It is a youth conference in Edmonton that happens every year. Christian rock bands and excellent speakers come out for a weekend of non-stop concerts and sessions in Edmonton’s Rexall Place. Every year hundreds of teens come to know Jesus as their Saviour and it’s a great time to worship our God with thousands of young people in one place.
The details are as follows:
Theme: Passion (that we will be passionate for God’s heart and His will in every aspect of our lives)
Dates: May 23 -25, 2008
Where: Rexall Place, Edmonton Alberta
Speakers: Reggie Dabbs, John Bevere, Phil Pringle, Bob Stromberg, etc.
Bands: Newsboys, Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK), Skillet, Leeland, Parachute Band, Panic Squad, Amanda Falk, Pillar, Hawk Nelson, etc.
I am so excited about this, so expect many more posts about YC and why it brings me joy!

A story like this requires some background info. If you’ve been checking the weather lately then you know that it is super cold in southern Alberta. Here in Lethbridge the snow is coming down like crazy, the roads are icy and on Monday the temperature with the wind chill was -47!
I almost didn’t even make it here this week. I don’t have classes until Tuesday so I tend to leave Calgary on Monday, this weekend was a different story. There were warnings of a storm hitting Sunday evening so I was given the advice to leave early that day for Lethbridge (thanks mom). The snow started earlier than I thought and I soon realized that my 92 Mazda probably wouldn’t be the best bet for me to get there. I almost stayed in Calgary and skipped class for a week, but thank goodness for my good friend Whitney who drove me here and hopefully will drive me home on Friday.
Anyway, with the cold weather I decided that my Van skater shoes weren’t going to do it and I had my friend drive me to the mall. We looked at several stores, and I found them at Aldo on sale! I paid $85 for them when regular they cost $120.
They brought me so much joy today when walking the half hour to school this morning, then back for lunch, then back for school and coming home later this evening. My feet were so warm! I love them!
