I haven’t had the opportunity to post much on here because of our internet being on the fritz. I’m connected one moment and then it doesn’t work the next. Luckily a guy is coming tomorrow to fix that.

I did post something yesterday, but was quickly informed that I can’t post about that for a little while, so if you saw it and wonder where it went I’m sorry and it will come back!

I’ll be honest, I haven’t been in the best of moods lately. Simple little things seem to be getting me angry really quick. Things like a friend not giving me complete details about what they want to do, or people ignoring me when I’m trying to talk to them, or people cutting me off in traffic or the internet not working. I feel like my temper is on a short thread and I just don’t know why. This week was supposed to be a week where I could relax from the stresses of school, but I have found myself being stressed over cleaning and the life change that is occuring from me living back at home.

Tonight I went to the I Will Go concert with Starfield, Bethany Dillon, Shane & Shane and David Nasser. It was a great concert with a great speaker. I ended up in the “mosh-pit” for the Starfield concert and although I was stepped on and covered in other peoples sweat, I had a really good time. Tonight my time was definitely spent well and I’m looking forward to youth on Friday.

Celebrate April 24, 2008

To celebrate the fact that exams are finished I went out to a movie tonight with a group of people. There were 6 of us in total and we went to see Horton Hears A Who.

I must admit that I did want to see the movie, even if it looks a little bit cheesy.

Guess what? I loved it!!!

It is such a great movie. Now, I wouldn’t see it in the expensive theaters, but the cheap ones would be okay and it would be a good rental movie. It was so much better then I expected it to be. It’s about Horton, who is an elephant who hears a “who” on a speck of dust and ventures out to save their city from total destruction.

My favourite character has to be Katie. She was introduced to me months ago, but I didn’t feel it was right to talk about her until I saw the movie. Now that I have, I wish to share this clip with you. She is probably the most random character in the entire movie and this is the most she ever says.

They Sang What? April 23, 2008

I know that it is yet another late night for me, but I’m going to bed right after this I promise!!! For my mom, yes I did study today. The girls downstairs quizzed me with the cue cards I made and I will be waking up early to pack a lunch and go to school to do some last minute studying before my exam.

I just thought that I would write about this little show called American Idol. I haven’t been watching much of the show lately. It just annoys me when they take an entire show to tell the viewers who is voted off when it could take a couple minutes. I did watch this weeks performances on YouTube though. If you haven’t already heard Brooke White forgot the words and asked the band to start the song over. She thought that she would be gone today for sure, but the next contestant to leave was Carly Smithson. I actually like a lot of the contestants that are left on the show, and since I’m finished school (well almost) I just might be watching the next couple weeks of American Idol.

I leave you with a clip from an episode that I did not see. A few friends of mine mentioned that the contestants sang Shout To The Lord. They sang it for their AIDS show and then again the day after! I couldn’t believe that they would ever think of singing a Christian song on that show. They would never let that happen in Canada! Take a look at this clip to see the second night they sang the song.

It’s Late . . . April 22, 2008

It’s late and I can’t seem to sleep so I decided to write on my blog.

First of all, I’m quite upset that the Flames didn’t win tonight. I think it may have had something to do with the prayers of my cousin Mark for them to loose . . .

I spent my time last night and today with my family. I love them so much! I know that I may not say much when I’m there, but I really appreciate the fact that I can just call and pop over when I have the time. My only regret this year was that I didn’t spend more time with them while I was close by. Oh well, next year I will have to be around more and stop in more for some free dinners!

I plan to spend my day tomorrow studying for my last exam of the year. It’s Art History and I plan on making cards with the artwork on one side and info on the other. Please pray that I can get through this last exam!

Well, I’m off to bed and look forward to more coming soon . . .

I apologize to all of you out there that read my blog that have noticed the drop in posts recently. I have been studying for exams and haven’t had the time or the energy to post anything.

I have so much information to share with you all that will come in the next couple of weeks. I have been keeping a list of all that has brought me joy throughout the last little while.

For now, I just need to say that I am so excited that school is almost over! I have only one more exam to go, then I pack up all of my stuff and move back to Calgary for the summer. I am so excited!!!

But for now, I just need to study . . .

Tomorrow is a fund raiser for a group of young adults that are going to Brazil in August. Since I have an exam tomorrow, I won’t be in Calgary to help with the evening so a small group of us met today for lunch and to set up for tomorrow night. We spent the entire afternoon shopping and decorating tables with table cloths, mini lights and tulle.

For lunch we went to a place that I have always driven by and longed to go in. It is located on the corner of Kensington and Memorial and was called Julio’s Barrio. It is a fabulous restaurant that serves Mexican food. It has two floors and a roof top patio and the place is extremely busy in the evenings. I had a Chicken Quesadilla that came with refried beans, corn and rice and came to $17. My friends had the nachos and enchiladas and loved them as well.

It’s a great Mexican place with amazing artwork on the walls. I perfect place for lunch and I’m sure a very exciting place for a Calgary evening.

Straighten It! April 16, 2008

I love my hair straightener!

It is a pink Corioliss straightener and I bought it off of Ebay last summer. It heats up in less than 60 seconds and works so well.

I don’t straighten my hair that often but when I do, I remember how much this was worth what I paid for it. It makes my hair straight and shiny. The best part about it is that I can also curl my hair with it. I can curl the ends in or out and have even mastered the art of ringlets. For tighter curls (like what you would get with a curling iron) you section off a piece and start at the scalp. Then turn the straightener 360 degrees (a full turn) and pull slowly down. The hair should curl up like, almost like curling a ribbon. It took me a lot of practice, but I can do it now!

I’ll try and post pictures of my hair later, but for now here is one of the newer version of my hair straightener.

Getting My Hair Cut! April 14, 2008

Today I went to go get my haircut with my friend Whitney. We called about 10 different places to hear that their prices were way too expensive or that they couldn’t take 2 people today.

We finally called a place called La Chic Hair Salon and Spa. We walked in the building to window washers in their already tight front area. We then were ushered into the back to wash our hair with the best smelling shampoo ever! I wish I had asked what they were using because it smelt so great and the experience was made even better with incredible scalp massages. I loved it.

BUT, then the lady started cutting my hair. It was extremely awkward. She made me sit at the edge of the seat to cut my hair because it was too long for me to sit back. Strange… She gave me a decent hair cut in the long run, but she never once told me her name or asked me a question about myself. The only thing that she said to me was how to sit and what products I should buy. Even Whitney said she could feel the tense “awkwardness”. Every other hair dresser in the place was talking, but not mine! Isn’t it part of the whole hair saloon experience to chat with the ladies in the salon? I just don’t get it.

In the end, she didn’t cut my bangs like I asked but the hair cut is decent. The saving grace for the place (ha! that rhymes) is that I loved the shampoo they used and I don’t want to wash my hair because I will loose that smell!

eat! eat! April 12, 2008

Today my family and I decided to venture out to Inglewood to walk around and shop and for lunch. Our main goal was to go to Suzi Q which is a really sweet bead shop down on 12th Street and 9th Ave in the SE. We spent a lot of time in that small and very warm store going through all of their crystals, semi-precious stones, metal findings and beads. We spent too much money and then head off to eat! eat!.

Eat! eat! is a tiny little cafe in Inglewood. We walked in to everyone in the place turning around to see the new people entering the cafe, which was a little strange in the beginning, but you quickly begin to love that small atmosphere. It is such a sweet place!

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was fantastic! My mom had an omlette, my dad had the burger, my sister had the tuna melt and I had the chicken burger. It was all really good and I would definitely go back!

So if any one reading this wants to go spend some time in a little trendy cafe let me know! It brought me so much joy to go there today and I would love to go back!!!

They even have a Vegetarian Hemp Burger if you don’t like meat! haha
