Finding Joy Everyday

Gargoyle? June 11, 2008

Filed under: Clothing/Accessories, Random Items — crayzblonde @ 5:10 pm

Well one thing that I must say that brings me joy is when people say things they think are brilliant . . . but really aren’t. haha

Case #1

Subject: Michael Clarke

“People living in Nunavut are called Inukshuk’s”

Truth: Inukshuks are stone structures, not people.

Case #2

Subject: Allan Lambie

“I’m so excited to wear my gargoyle tomorrow!”

Truth: The fabric that is in the shape of diamonds is called Argyle, not Gargoyle.

Long Overdue June 10, 2008

It’s long overdue that I write something on my blog!

I apologize about not keeping this up as well as I did when it was for homework. I can’t believe how busy my life is getting. I just need to take the time to breath and write my thoughts out.

I will start with my last post. I wrote about my weekend at YC, but not the whole weekend. When Michelle and I got home we were greeted by my aunt and cousin from Saskatchewan and my other cousin from California. Although we were exhausted from shouting our lungs out we decided to stay up until 2am to watch a movie! I took the day off of work because I knew that my family was coming and I wanted to spend time with them. Michelle got my mom to call her school as well and we went shopping. I just followed everyone around because I just wanted to spend time with my family. I must say that I started to have a fabulous time when I went shopping for clothes and gifts with my cousin. We had a fun time running around the mall trying things on. We then went to Chianti’s for dinner which was amazing! I just wish that I would have had more time to spend with “Paige” while she was here. We didn’t get to go to Suzi Q beads or for Gelato which bummed me out. You better come back so I can make it up to you!

Little Bunnies May 14, 2008

Filed under: Random Items — crayzblonde @ 10:47 pm

There are rabbits everywhere! I see at least 2 or 3 every time I come home later in the evening and tonight was no different. I was driving one of my girls home from youth tonight when a little bunny ran in front of my car. It was so tiny and cute that I slowed down to get a better look. Suddenly a fairly large black and white cat ran out in front of my car in pursuit of the little bunny. I was so upset and after telling my sister how much I strongly disliked cats I continued to drive to see the bunny run across the road again! The cat followed and since no one was around I swerved toward the cat and it spun around in the opposite direction of the bunny. I have joy in the hope that I saved that little bunny’s life for at least tonight! Stupid cats!

Here is a photo of the little bunnies that are running around Calgary during this time of the year. We found this one in our bushes last year.

Survivor Finale May 12, 2008

Last night was Survivor Fans Vs. Favourites Finale. I will admit that I am a total Survivor junkie and have loved this season of the show. Jeff Probst said yesterday that this season was more popular than the first season!

This season can be known for the most people leaving the show because of injury or giving up and for the most blind-sides during tribal council. I loved that the girls blind-sided all of the boys and how it all planned out. Two guys (Ozzy and Jason) both had the hidden immunity idol and when it came to tribal council they didn’t play it and were voted off. The top stupidity move though, was by a young man named Erik who gave up the immunity idol and was voted off. It was clear that the girls would all vote him off and when he gave up the only thing that would save him was shocking!

In the end Parvati won the million and seemed completely shocked. Many people were positive that Amanda would win, including myself, but it didn’t happen. James won $100,000 for being voted the most liked player.

I am so excited for season 17 to start. Yes, 17 Seasons of Survivor!!!! It is going to be in Gabon, Africa and you can guarantee that I will be watching it!

Hide Those Scissors! May 7, 2008

Filed under: Random Items — crayzblonde @ 11:07 pm

Last week I was checking my Facebook account when I came across a photo album story that my cousin posted. It began with a picture of the unsuspecting little girl and then the perpetrator (her brother). The next couple of pictures were of the supervising parent at the time (dad) and the distracted (dad’s friend). The weapon of choice was a pair of scissors and the following picture is the result.

I love how she looks so happy with her brand new haircut. Her mom was absolutely devastated. I haven’t seen her since her new “G.I. Jane” look, but I’m sure she’s wearing hats to accompany her new hair-do.

I think that episodes like this are just part of growing up. My sister cut her own bangs when she was little so she could be like me when I was growing mine out. She just cut them off instead of waiting them to grow!

Making Money May 5, 2008

I started my job today and it tired me out a lot faster then I thought it would. I didn’t even do that much but I am absolutly exhausted!

I’m working for a land surveying company called Lovse Surveys Ltd. and as far as I know I will be filing and doing other odd jobs when I am not filling in for those on vacation. My brain is definitely fried today and I hope that I get the hang of things soon!

I’m looking forward to the money that will be going into my bank account to pay for those student loans…

It’s Late . . . April 22, 2008

Filed under: Random Items — crayzblonde @ 11:28 pm

It’s late and I can’t seem to sleep so I decided to write on my blog.

First of all, I’m quite upset that the Flames didn’t win tonight. I think it may have had something to do with the prayers of my cousin Mark for them to loose . . .

I spent my time last night and today with my family. I love them so much! I know that I may not say much when I’m there, but I really appreciate the fact that I can just call and pop over when I have the time. My only regret this year was that I didn’t spend more time with them while I was close by. Oh well, next year I will have to be around more and stop in more for some free dinners!

I plan to spend my day tomorrow studying for my last exam of the year. It’s Art History and I plan on making cards with the artwork on one side and info on the other. Please pray that I can get through this last exam!

Well, I’m off to bed and look forward to more coming soon . . .

Straighten It! April 16, 2008

I love my hair straightener!

It is a pink Corioliss straightener and I bought it off of Ebay last summer. It heats up in less than 60 seconds and works so well.

I don’t straighten my hair that often but when I do, I remember how much this was worth what I paid for it. It makes my hair straight and shiny. The best part about it is that I can also curl my hair with it. I can curl the ends in or out and have even mastered the art of ringlets. For tighter curls (like what you would get with a curling iron) you section off a piece and start at the scalp. Then turn the straightener 360 degrees (a full turn) and pull slowly down. The hair should curl up like, almost like curling a ribbon. It took me a lot of practice, but I can do it now!

I’ll try and post pictures of my hair later, but for now here is one of the newer version of my hair straightener.

Logging in to WordPress… April 4, 2008

Everyday that I log into WordPress and see that I have even one person looking at my blog that day or seeing that people have taken the time out of their day to write me a comment brings me so much joy.

There are so many different people that look at this thing too! People from church, my family and friends, and friends of my friends and relatives and random people that I don’t even know. There has even been a couple comments from people in Europe!

I just want to thank you all for coming to look at my blog and for leaving comments.

Just for fun, here is a video that was on Coffee Help’s website that I thought was cute. If you like James Blunt and Sesame Street, than you’ll enjoy this song.

Driving A Stick Shift April 3, 2008

I love being able to drive a stick shift! There is just something about the feeling of shifting gears in a car. There is a power you feel in knowing that you can make the car go faster with just a change of the gears.

Now when I was being taught how to drive with manual transmission I had different thoughts running through my head, and my parents can attest to that. When my parents were taking me out to practice I would freak out and yell until I would stress them out so bad we would just go home. I remember sitting at a red light, it turning green and then red again. I sat there trying to get the vehicle going, but as my stress level increased, my car kept stalling. It was so stressful!

However . . . I now know how to drive a manual and I love it!!!
